Inspired by lectures.

Haha.

I think it was yesterday.. Kobi mentioned about how genetic engineering can lead to so many cons. Although there's soo many advantages of genetic engineering, there's still disadvantages to it.. I agreed to his statement, but I can't forget how genetic engineering have improved the life of soooo many people...

Today, during MGEN lectures, we came across how gene is regulation. One of the ways is via tRNA levels. So apparently, since we have amino acids that can be coded from different codons, and the transcriptional levels of each codon (that codes for the same a.a.) varies. So some tRNAs will be at very low level because their codons occur very rarely while some may be at high level as their codons occur frequently.

So how does this apply to our daily life?? It's used in genetic engineering! This is the same reason as to why there's different amount of translational products (amount of protein) produced when we inject the same gene to an animal or a human. Thus, we use genetic engineering to change the codon to those that occurs frequently (but the codon also codes for the same amino acid) such that the test subject is able to yield high amount of proteins.

Cool isn't it?

bad day. rare day. amazing day.

Its amazing how just one bad situation can result in a bad day even when someone had a wonderful day that day.

One sentence. I really really don't like hearing people who just say vulgarities like its nothing.

Well, lets just change how I think. Today is a WONDERFUL day.

Firstly, I learnt something neat in one of the lectures. White cats are more susceptible to tumour formation than black cats coz white cats have lesser melanin than black cats; thus they are unable to protect against the UV rays from the sunlight which leads to mutation and blah blah blah and whoa la, cancer formation!

Secondly, I found out that ah beng talks like a real ah beng.. But that ah beng is a really really nice and clever guy. =)

Thridly, (this is the most amazing thing that happened after I came to Perth) Ivan called my name! Hahaha!!! Imagine that!!! How can someone not say my name for sooooo long? I've nv heard him say my name before!! And Kahang realises it too! Hahaha.. Isn't it simply amazing?? We three are known to be always together for this entire semester (hear it somewhere, i think its from Ruth's friend) already and this is the first time he say my name.. Hahaha!

Lastly, Kobi made a really really really delicious lava cake!! That's the best lava cake I've eaten so far. Although it kind of failed his expectation, but its super super delicious! Carmen also made banana raisin muffins too. Haha!

So in overall.. I really really had a WONDERFUL day! =)

I WANT MY FB PASSWORD.

Ha Ha Ha.

I think I'm really going bonkers.. Now my favourite thing to do during breaks from studying is to find the online catalogue from Coles, IGA and woolsworth.. LOL..

And its whoppy 3 weeks to exams! And I have not started any revision! GOODNESS!!

2 more presentations, and 1 MGEN 'report' due next week!

So busy!
